Final Project Guidelines
The final project allows students to explore a topic of personal interest within the broader context of California wine, demonstrating critical thinking and applied understanding.
Students should seek approval from their local educator (René Langdahl) on their topic and approach.
Project Theme
Suggested topics include:
- Specific winemaking/production styles
- Sustainability and environmental leadership
- Market, trade, and global context
- Education and consumer engagement
Project Review Criteria
Educators are the primary reviewers and will evaluate projects based on:
- Relevance to California wine and integration of Capstone concepts
- Depth of insight and critical thinking
- Well-developed thesis
- Clarity and structure
Project Format
Students choose to submit either a paper or a video file.
Examples include:
- Traditional article
- Research paper
- Recorded presentation with slide deck (via Zoom, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Recorded interview (in-person or virtual) with trade member, winemaker, importer, etc.
Paper Specifications
Word Count: 1,000–2,000 words maximum
Formatting: Double-spaced
- Font: Times New Roman or Arial
- Include: Student name, educator name and region, paper title (not included in word count)
Video Specifications
Maximum Length: 30 minutes
File Format: .mp4 or .mov
